Amrita Sher Gill died only a few days before she was to
complete her 28th birth day. Amrita is considered one of the
Pioneer Avant-Garde woman painters of the 20th century from
India.
Amrita is Often refereed as Frida Kahlo of the East.
Besides a great volume of work and a rich tradition of new
art forms, Amrita Sher Gill left behind too many personal
controversies surrounding her life and death.
Did she died of food poising?
Was it an abortion?
That her husband was performing on her that went wrong!
Or
It was a suicide!
Amrita contracted syphilis at a very young age from one of
her lovers, she Feared that she may go insane due to the
after effects of syphilis so she took her own life.
She had numerous lovers including Jawahar Lal Nehru.
The first Prime Minister of India.
One of her lover termed her as “ A Debauch Virgin.”
